Minister accused of watching porn, files complaint against Kannada channel staff

Karnataka Education Minister Tanveer Sait, who was accused of watching porn during a public function, has filed a case against a reporter and a cameraperson of a Kannada news channel.

Tanveer Sait filed a complaint on TV9 reporter Siddu Biradar and the channel’s cameraperson at the Raichur West police station on Friday evening.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Raichur district, SB Patil said,“They have been booked under section 504 IPC (For intentionally insulting a person, provoking him to break peace or cause any other offence).”

"We have asked for the documents and the unedited versions of the videos. We will arrest the duo based on the evidence we collect," he said.

According to TV9 Kannada news channel report on November 10, Sait, who was attending the Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations at Raichur, was seen scrolling through pictures on his phone.

Some pictures of semi-nude and skimpily clad women reportedly came up in the same thread. TV 9 beamed these pictures continuously, but since they were blurred, one could not make out the exact nature of the pictures.

However, following the telecast, many media channels - including national channels - reported that Sait was indeed caught watching porn.

The opposition and some Kannada activists demanded Sait’s resignation immediately.

In response to the telecast, Sait said that he was watching visuals of Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations in Mysuru and not porn. He added that this was all a conspiracy.
