Two MTech students in Bengaluru have been arrested for sending threat mails to Kempegowda International Airport.

Unhappy with how they had been marked by their professors, two MTech students sent threat mails to KIA from accounts named after their professors. In an attempt to label their teachers ‘terrorists’ the emails claimed that they were aides of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The mails were sent from the computer science lab, reported The New Indian Express.  

The two accused, identified as Raghavendra (26) and Hoysala (23), were pursuing II semester computer science from East West Engineering College in Anjana Nagar, off Magadi Road, reported The Times of India.

According to TNIE report, the first mail was sent on March 22. They even attached a photograph of their lecturers Prasanna Kumar, Dhanraj, Chandan Raj calling them aides of Dawood Ibrahim.

In the mail, they demanded $10 million, failing which they threatened to bomb the airport. The terminal manager Vinamra Mehrotra of the airport complained to the police.

The newspaper reported that the airport received another mail threatening to hijack and bomb the airport. The threat mails were tracked to the engineering college but the investigating team could not zero in on the culprits as the mails were sent from the computer science lab.

After the police questioned the students, Raghavendra and Hoysala confessed to the crime.

They have been booked for criminal intimidation through anonymous communication and for putting persons at risk of injury for extortion of money.
