The Mangaluru North police on Wednesday arrested Mansoor (35), who was one of the five people who allegedly confronted and harassed a group of students outside a mall on Tuesday. After questioning, he was released on bail.

The police said that Mansoor, who is a resident of Natekal on the outskirts of the city, works in the mall.

According to The Hindu, the police said that they have collected photographs of the incident that were captured by people who witnessed the incident in the mall. They verified these photographs with the CCTV footage. They are on the lookout for the other four suspects. 

The accused has been arrested under Sections 143 (being member of unlawful assembly), 149 (offence committed by unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Since these offences are bailable, the police released Mansoor.

The trio, two girls and a boy, was confronted by the group as the three belonged to different communities. The police intervened and rescued the three friends.

The three friends did not file a  complaint until the policemen met the parents.The boy registered a complaint against five people under section 341 (wrongful restraint), Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peach), section 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.
