A woman from Mandya committed suicide allegedly due to dowry harassment. A six page long death note blaming her husband and mother-in-law was found, reported The New Indian Express.

Mandya police have taken Prathap and his mother into custody.

The deceased, who is identified as Supraja was a resident of Leelavathi Layout in Maddur taluk. Supraja and Prathap were in a relationship for three years before they married in 2011 against their families’ wishes. The couple have a three-year-old son.

TNIE reported that, Supraja’s father Manjunath admitted his daughter was being harassed by the in-laws

“She was doing her MTech through correspondence and was managing home apart from working. Fed up with the torture, she resorted to the extreme step,” said Manjunath.

“With a lot of trust in Prathap I married him, but he is not trustworthy. I requested my mother-in-law to be friendly, but no use. I have decided to commit suicide,” says her death note.

As wounds were found on her body Supraja’s relatives allege the family members have beaten her to death.
