Lakhs of students to appear for SSLC exams in K’taka from March 23: 8 things to know

Lakhs of students from across Karnataka will appear for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations, conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), starting Friday.

Here are eight things to know.

- The SSLC examinations will be held from March 23 to April 6. The exams have been brought forward this year due to the upcoming Assembly Elections in the state.

- 8.5 lakh students are expected to sit for the examinations. This includes 70,253 repeat candidates and 23,199 private candidates.

- There will be two shifts in which the exams will be held. The time table for the exams can be viewed here.

- Visually impaired students and students with learning disabilities will be given an extra hour for finishing their papers.

- The practical and oral examinations for Junior Technical School (JTS) will be held on April 7. The Karnataka Sangeeta and Hindustani Music exam will also be held on the same day.

- The KSEEB has a helpline for students appearing for SSLC exams. Students who feel stressed and pressured due to the exams can call on 080-23310075,080-23310076 between 9 am and 8 pm for help and counselling.

- The department had announced earlier this year that the fee for students taking the SSLC exams will be increased from Rs 365 to Rs 440 from 2019.

- For the first time this year, the KSEEB went fully green for enrolling students for the exam. The process of collecting information and issuing admission tickets to students appearing for SSLC was done digitally.
