Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George has denied knowing DySP Ganapathy who allegedly killed himself on Thursday.

Speaking to the media on Friday, George who was home minister between May 2013 and October 2015, said that he did not know Ganapathy personally, as there were “thousands” of sub-inspectors.

However, he did recall that Ganapathy came to meet him after he was suspended in May 2015. “I told him that a departmental inquiry was on, and that I could not do anything,” George said.

In an interview given to a local television channel in Kodagu called TV1 on Thursday, Ganapathy had alleged that George and two senior IPS officers AM Prasad and Pronab Mohanty had harassed him.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that suitable action would be taken after the investigation was completed.

On Friday, the state government ordered a CID inquiry into the death.
