The News Minute | February 18, 2015 | 09:50 am IST In a bid to tackle female foeticide, the health department in Karnataka has decided to use a new software which will help officials to keep a check on women carrying female foetus all the way till they deliver the baby, states a report by Bangalore Mirror. The department plans to map and connect all scanning centres, by installing specific software designed for the project, to the Health and Family Welfare department.BM report quotes UT Khader, minister for health and family welfare, as saying, "They will be connected to a server housed at the office of the District Health Officer (DHO) of our department. The moment a pregnant woman is detected as having a female foetus, the server at DHO office receives a notification along with the medical details of the woman and the details of her doctors as entered by scanning centre personnel. The data will be verified with the hospital a few months later and after a successful delivery the file will be closed". The project is likely to start within the BBMP limits initially and then will be taken up in the other parts of the state.Tweet
