Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that while Bengaluru remains largely peaceful, occasional incidents of molestation occur in a city of this size. “Incidents like these tend to happen here and there in a big city like this. Whatever legal action needs to be taken will be done in accordance with the law. I have also instructed our commissioner to increase beat patrolling,” he told ANI on Monday, April 7.

He was responding to the recent molestation of a woman in Bengaluru’s Suddaguntepalya in south Bengaluru.

The incident, captured on video, shows a man following two women on a road. According to the timestamp in the video, the incident took place around 1:50 am on April 3. The video shows the man molesting one of the women before fleeing the scene.

While the victims did not initially file a complaint, a local resident approached the Suddaguntepalya police and filed a complaint. A First Information Report has been registered under Sections 74 (molestation), 74 (sexual harassment) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
