The News Minute | August 17, 2014 | 1.04 pm ISTApparently, Bangalore has its very own home grown Spiderman, aka Kothiraja, who scaled the wall of a building on Friday and hoisted a flag after he was challenged about being a “hero”.According to The Hindu, Jyotiraj was detained by the Cubbon Park police for a while on Friday after he scaled the wall of a building on Ambedkar Veedhi, where a number of government offices are located. He did not have permission to scale the building. He told The Hindu that he was challenged by people in a bus, who asked him if he had stopped climbing after he became a “hero”: “They asked me whether I stopped climbing after I became a hero. To prove them wrong, I got down from the bus near Vidhana Soudha, walked up to V.V. towers, climbed it within half-an-hour and hoisted the flag.” It was apparently his birthday too. Jyotiraj is known for climbing without any gear, and aims to scale the Burj Khalifa, the world’stallest building. According to Vocativ who recently did a profile on him: “It started as a suicide attempt. Abandoned at a temple as a young child, Jyoti Raj was being abused by the man who had taken him in—and he felt as though he couldn't go on. So one day he climbed up a steep rock with the intention of jumping to his death. But as he reached the top, he realized that a crowd had gathered, unaware of his intentions, and was actually cheering for him as he climbed. That's when he decided to use his talent for climbing to make a name for himself. By watching monkeys and imitating their movements, he became one of the world's best climbers, and soon people began calling him Monkey King. A local celebrity, he now easily draws crowds whenever he performs and has even started teaching young students who want to learn his climbing skills.”Watch a video here:
