The State government is likely to conduct a major reshuffle in the police department in the wake of the illegal lottery scam and cricket betting racket which allegedly involves many police officials, reported Deccan Herald. The government was likely to transfer senior officers along with inspectors and sub-inspectors whose names had cropped up during investigation of both lottery scam as well as cricket betting racket.Although the government had prepared a list of officers to be transferred, it was reserved due to the gram panchayat elections, but a decision is expected soon as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to hold a meeting in this regard, the report said.“The Opposition is gearing up to rake up the issue in the legislature session scheduled to be held in July. So, to tackle the issue, the State government will transfer them at the earliest,” a source was quoted as saying.Names of senior IPS officers Arun Cha Chakravarthy, IGP (Central Range) and Sunil Agarwal, IGP (North East Range) reportedly figure in the list of officials to be transferred. Recently, JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy had alleged that Chakravarthy and Agarwal were involved in the illegal lottery scam.
