Government to create Chikkodi district out of Belagavi

The News Minute | January 9, 2014 | 9.44 pm ISTKarnataka may get one more district, taking the total number up to 31, if state government takes the necessary steps in the budget session of the legislature.According to a report in The Hindu, Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad said that the state government would bifurcate Belagavi district and fulfill the long-standing demand for Chikkodi. The announcement would be made during the budget session. At present the district has 10 taluks, making it the largest district.Tweet
