Right-wing activists threw eggs at Congress leader Ramya’s car in Mangaluru on Thursday afternoon after she left the airport.

Ramya was in the coastal city to attend Krishna Janmashtami celebrations.

In a video uploaded by ANI, protestors can been seen throwing eggs at the car in which Ramya was travelling. They threw eggs at the car from behind the police, after which the police turned and chased some of them.

The incident occurred when she was leaving the airport.

Ramya told News18: “The people will try all sorts of things. It is not going to affect me. I am not going to backtrack. I am not at all worried.”

Ramya has been in the spotlight over her remarks that people in Pakistan were “just like us” and that Pakistan was not “hell” as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had claimed.

She made these remarks in her hometown Mandya this week, after returning from the SAARC Young Parliamentarians conference in Islamabad earlier this month.

A Madikeri-based lawyer filed a private complaint with a local court, urging that a case of sedition be booked against her.

Ramya has said that she would not apologise for her remarks as she had said nothing wrong.

The BJP and its student wing ABVP have staged state-wide protests against her remarks, including demonstrations in Mandya on Wednesday.
