Congress MLA wanted to party late and assaulted us, complain cops

The News Minute |July 3, 2014| 7.30 am ISTTwo policemen have lodged a complaint against Vijayanand Kashappanavar, Congress MLA from Hungund for assaulted them on the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The MLA was partying with his associates at an upmarket pub situated in UB City mall in Bangalore. The policemen had reached the pub to ask the owners to shut it down as it was open past 2 am on Wednesday, but they alleged that the MLA and associates assaulted them.In their complaint, the police officials said that the MLA slapped them and threatened to strip them in the Assembly. The MLA and his friends chased the policemen till the gate of the mall.The MLA however maintains that he was at the pub to celebrate his birthday along with his family and objected when the policemen tried to take pictures of customers. Following pressure from the opposition, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said: "Whether he is a MLA or otherwise, no omissions or commissions will be done. Cong, BJP or JDS Mla, law will take its own course. Everybody equal before law."
