Congress MLA Vijayanand who allegedly thrashed cops had 15 cases against him previously

The News Minute| July 4, 2014| 12.30 pm ISTCongress MLA Vijayanand Kashappannavar who is wanted by the police for assaulting police personnel has four cases pending against him in Bagalkot district.Kashappannavar has been elected from Hungund Assembly constituency in Bagalkot district and between 2002 and 2013, 15 cases were filed against him. Of these four are still in various stages of investigation, and Kashappannavar is the prime accused in all four. All cases have been registered in Ilkal and Hungund police stations.Kananda Daily Prajavani quotes the police as saying that the MLA was acquitted in 6 cases and a B report was filed in five cases. In the remaining four cases, he is accused of assault under Section 324.No case has been filed against him since he was elected to the Assembly.The charges against him in the past include rioting, rioting with weapons, assault, criminal intimidation, obstructing a government official from carrying out his/her duties, assault with weapons, and wrongful restraint.
