CID investigators reportedly questioned Congress leader and former minister KJ George on Friday over Mangaluru DySP Ganapathy’s suicide, Suvarna News 24x7 reported.

According to the Suvarna News report, CID DySP Shridhar questioned George at the CID headquarters in Bengaluru in connection with Ganapathy’s suicide. The interrogation started at 3 pm.

In an interview Ganapathy gave to local television channel in Madikeri, Kodagu district, the DySP accused George, and senior police officers Pronab Mohanty and AM Prasad of harassing him. George is the main accused in the case.

George is reportedly the first person to be questioned since by the CID since the case was transferred to it on August 5.

George, who has held the posts of the state Home Minister, resigned as from his post Bengaluru Development minister on July 18 after a Madikeri court ordered an FIR against him and two IPS officers. The court’s direction was in response to a private complaint filed by Ganapathy’s son Nehal.

The issue became political with Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar demanding the resignation of the then Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George, as Ganapathy had alleged that George harassed him when he was home minister. George was relieved of the post last October.

For weeks following the death of the Dy SP, there were wide spread protests by the opposition calling for George’s resignation.
