As BJP is all set to form the next government in Karnataka, and has roundly defeated incumbent Congress, Rajya Sabha MP from the winning party Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the BJP would work to solve Karnataka’s issues amicably.
He also confirmed that while the dates for the swearing in were not confirmed, Karnataka would see BS Yeddyurappa as the Chief Minister very soon.
When asked about how the BJP would handle the Cauvery issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Rajeev said they would live up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of solving disputes in an amicable fashion.
“The BJP is a truly pan-national party. They will work effectively to solve all issues whether it is Mahadayi or Cauvery – that is the Prime Minister’s promise. We must learn as neighbouring states to work together to solve problems without conflict, and do so within the framework of the Constitution and the law. I am very confident that under the BJP government, we will be able to sit down and work out mutually acceptable solutions to all disputes,” he said.
Rajeev added that the primary reason behind the BJP’s victory were the last five years of the Congress government “and its corruption, its rampant divisiveness and communalism” and the lack of a message of development in the elections.
“People of Karnataka, and people across the country want politicians and leaders who speak about development and a brighter future. They are no longer going to be distracted by this kind of divisive politics that the Congress is famous for,” he said.
Rajeev also hit out at the “Delhi media” when a reporter asked him about some media outlets calling the Karnataka victory a referendum in favour of PM Modi. “There is a group of people, effectively Delhi media, who want to make every election a referendum about Modi. I am very proud of the Prime Minister of our country is not afraid to take on each of them,” he said.
Rajeev argued that it was the five years of Siddaramaiah’s government which was on referendum, but even if it were Modi, he has emerged with flying colours.
