On November 2 Karnataka BJP protested over Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah’s attack on the anti-beef policy on Friday.

Former deputy chief minister R Ashok with MLA Vijaykumar, former MLA Hemachandra Sagar and BBMP opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy led the protest in Town hall in Bengaluru, voicing their dissent at the Chief Minister.

Speaking to the media on November 1, Siddaramaiah stuck to his words and said that he will reply to BJP’s protest with another protest.

BJP vice president B S Yeddyurappa told reporters, "The Chief Minister should learn to talk sensibly and seriously. He should not create issues by talking in this manner," he said.

On October 29, Siddaramaiah said that it is not right for BJP and other right-wing parties to question individual rights of people to eat cow meat if they want to. 

Speaking to journalists after a programme organized by the Bengaluru unit of Youth Congress Siddaramaiah said: “I have not eaten go-maamsa (cow-meat) until today, (but) who are you to ask me whether I have or not? If I want to eat beef, I will eat it. Nobody can stop me."
