BJP activist murdered in Bidar, police rule out political motive

A BJP activist from Bidar was found dead in Government Primary school in Sonal village in Aurad taluk of the district on Sunday night.

Bidar SP Prakash Nikam told The News Minute that the victim identified as Sunil Dongre, was murdered over a personal dispute. 

“The investigation is going on. So far we have confirmed that the murder was not for political reasons. We are looking for the accused,” Nikam said.

The police said that the victim was attacked with sharp weapons and suffered stab injuries on the intestine, face and other parts of the body, reported Deccan Herald.

The 35-year-old activist, according to sources, was reportedly a follower of Aurad MLA Prabhu Chavan. With over 50 acres of agricultural land in Sonal village, he had no financial problems. The victim maintained a good relationship with everyone, reported DH.

While the police are still investigating the motive behind the murder, preliminary investigation revealed that Sunil had received a call at around 10 pm after which he visited the school, where his body was found later. 

Sunil is survived by his wife and three children.
