Bijapur clashes- Police teams formed to nab former BJP minister

The News Minute| May 27, 2014| 11.30 pm ISTFormer BJP Union minister Basavanagouda Patil Yatnal is absconding after police named him accused in the Bijapur riot case. The town of Bijapur saw riots on Monday evening as BJP supporters led by Yatnal took out a procession through the Bijapur town. Clashes broke out after Yatnal and other BJP supporters tried to forcibly smear Gulaal on the faces of vegetable vendors belonging to the minority community. Police sources confirm that tension also increased at the celebratory procession played songs about building the Ram mandir.Police teams have been formed to nab Yatnal, a minister in the Vajpayee government.Yatnal and other BJP cadres have been booked under IPC sections 295 (insulting a religion or class), 153 A (promoting enormity between religions), 354 (molestation), 353 (attacking a public servant).
