Bengaluru police arrested Bigg Boss Kannada contestants Rajath Kishen and Vinay Gowda on March 24 for allegedly brandishing a weapon while filming an Instagram reel. The duo was taken into custody after appearing for questioning at the Basaveshwaranagar police station.
The controversy erupted after an 18-second video surfaced on Rajath’s Instagram account, showing the actors holding a sickle in a public space. The clip quickly went viral, sparking public outrage and prompting police action. Initially, they were booked under the Arms Act and other provisions related to creating public fear and public nuisance.
However, investigation revealed that the weapon seen in the video was not real but made of fibre. “The weapon was seized at night, and it was confirmed to be a fibre weapon. Legally, they cannot be sent to judicial custody, and the right legal steps were taken,” police officials stated.
Following this, the duo was granted station bail after their arrest.
