The video of a woman being followed and molested in Bengaluru has gone viral, prompting the police to take action. The incident has sparked concerns about women’s safety in the state capital.
The incident is said to have occurred around 1.55 am on Thursday, April 3, in SG Palya and the CCTV footage of the molestation began doing the rounds on social media.
In the video, a man is seen following two women walking on a road. He then molests one of the women before running away.
Although the women have not filed a complaint, the Suddaguntepalya police have registered a case after a resident of the area approached the police.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 74 (molestation), 75 (sexual harassment) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
The police are in the process of tracing both the victims and the attacker.
In April 2024, a woman out for her morning walk in Konanakunte police station limits was molested and CCTV footage of the incident sparked outrage.
The attacker approached her from behind and molested her. She managed to break free of him and run away, but he caught her again. He finally ran away as she continued screaming for help. Three police officials were suspended for negligence of duty over the incident.
