A security guard of an apartment complex was caught by residents for allegedly filming children swimming in the pool on the premises on Sunday.

Bangalore Mirror reported that the incident happened at around 11 am. An 8-year-old girl, who saw the security guard filming the swimmers in the pool informed her parents about it.

Following a complaint with Varthur police station, police arrested the guard identified as Saifuddin Gharami under the POCSO Act.

On being questioned, 19-year-old Saifuddin, a native of West Bengal has said that he had no bad intentions in filming the people swimming in the pool. The security agency through which he was hired has also endorsed this explanation.

An officer said that Saifuddin wanted to show the videos to children in his hometown so that they can know how children of the rich enjoy, reported Bangalore Mirror.

MK Pradhan, who is incharge of the security agency through which Saifuddin was hired, defended the teenager’s activity and said that the apartment residents are forcibly filing a complaint.

Apartment manager M Venkatesh said, “After we were informed about it, we checked the mobile phone of the guard and found video clips in it. The association committee then lodged a police complaint against the accused.”

“He was deployed at the back gate, but came and sat near the swimming pool. Though he was looking away from the pool, he was recording those swimming in it. We confirmed this act of his after seeing footage of CCTV cameras installed in the apartment. We are not sure if he has done similar things earlier,” he added.

Following this incident, the apartment committee has decided to get a police verification done for all house-keeping staff, domestic helps and car drivers.
