A 30-year-old software engineer from Bengaluru jumped to death on Thursday, from the fourth floor of her office building.

Shobha Lakshminarayan, reportedly a resident of Rajajinagar, reported to work as usual on Thursday morning. According to police, Shobha walked up to the fourth floor of the office building where the office cafeteria was situated and jumped out the window.

She was working with an MNC situated in Whitefield.

Investigating officers told reporters that the reason for her death was not known, but they have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

Though reports say that Shobha's colleagues thought it was an accident, police recovered CCTV footage that confirmed it to be a case of suicide.

Narayan, DCP, Whitefield told The Times of India that Shobha had placed her ID card, mobile and wallet on the parapet before jumping off.

The report states that the police suspect that Shobha had been depressed over a legal battle with her cousins over property issues. They also found four books on depression from her vanity bag.

It was a security guard at the company who first saw the body and immediately called for an ambulance. She was rushed to Vydehi hospital, but had died on the spot.

Family members told TOI that Shobha had been undergoing treatment for depression. Shobha was upset about a setback in a lower court regarding the legal dispute over land, and hadn't reported to work on Tuesday and Wednesday.
