A gang of burglars were arrested in Bengaluru on Sunday, which included a 26-year-old man who used to come to the city from New Delhi and burgle houses.

Two suspects - Ashish and Harman - from the gang were spotted on CCTV footage recovered by police in Jeevan Bhema Nagar, after a burglary had occurred there two months ago. Ashish was caught by the night patrol policemen and confessed to the crime. Police recovered 1.5kg gold ornaments and 2kg silver articles worth around Rs 50 lakh from them, as per Times of India.

His confession led to the arrest of Harman, a resident of Meena Bazaar in New Delhi. Police said that Harman would fly down from Delhi to Chennai and would then come to Bengaluru by car. He stayed in luxury hotels near Hosur while planning and executing the burglaries and would return to New Delhi by train or flight after the job was completed, as per a report in The New Indian Express. 

Posing as a student, Harman would knock on the doors of the houses he would burgle. If there was no response, he would break open the door and burgle the house with his associates. If the inmates responded, he would ask them for an address and leave.

Haman confessed to the police that he would come to Bengaluru months in advance and plan the crime. He would later sell the stolen goods in Chor Bazaar in New Delhi. He used several SIM cards to throw off the police. 

This is not the first time he has been caught by police in Bengaluru. In 2014, he was arrested by police officials at Ashoknagar for committing a similar crime. He was released on bail but continued his habit of burgling houses. 

Police say that around 20 burglary cases have been solved with the arrest and information gathered about this gang.
