A 21-year-old nursing graduate from Andhra Pradesh was allegedly raped by the owner of her paying guest (PG) accommodation in BTM Layout II Stage. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 21.

The accused, Ravi Teja Reddy (40), who runs the STB Ladies PG, was arrested by the Mico Layout police following the woman’s complaint. He has been booked under sections 64(1) (rape), 74 (assault or use of criminal force to outrage modesty), and 75(1) (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and is currently in judicial custody.

According to the FIR, the woman, who had moved into the PG on June 15 was accused of stealing two diamond rings and a gold ring belonging to other residents.

According to police, on June 21, Ravi Teja Reddy summoned all PG residents and warned that he would file a police complaint and examine CCTV footage if the stolen items were not returned.

Later that day, he took the woman to Room 506 under the pretext of questioning her. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Reddy sexually assaulted her while pretending to search for the missing jewellery. When she resisted, he physically assaulted her and threatened her not to report the incident.
