Bengaluru college student dies after being mowed down by BMTC bus

A college student was killed on Monday morning in Bengaluru after she was mowed down by a BMTC bus near the Majestic bus stand. 

According to news reports, Poornima, was crossing the road to board a bus that would take her to Mount Carmel College where she studied, when the bus hit her at around 7.45 am. The bus driver reportedly fled after the accident.

The bus - KA 01 FA 337, coming from Malleshwaram was taking a turn at a speed that was allegedly above the recommended level, to reach the main road.

OneIndia quoted traffic control officer Rajanna as saying: “We have not been able to trace the bus driver, but we have already sent officials for investigation.” He also blamed the passengers of the bus for walking out after the fatal accident. 

News channel TV9 reported that Poornima is a resident of Balepet in Bengaluru. Her body has been sent to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.
