The struggle of walking on Church Street without getting the sewage splashed generously on their clothes is a daily struggle for many. Though some commuters have begun to avoid the street by resorting to longer routes to reach their destinations, the numerous pubs located on Church Street have no option than to bear the brunt of bad roads.

According to a Bangalore Mirror report, all the pubs, restaurants and close to 1000 citizens who commute by the road on a regular basis, are set to petition the government.

Aishwarya Krishanan of BlueFrog told BM that they have got no response from BBMP and BWSSB in spite of repeated complaints. Pointing out how potholes and sewage on the street affect their business, she said, “Being a music venue, we have artists coming in from all over the world. The horrible smell makes them cringe when they enter. It is a disgrace.”

Though a plan to built a new road was envisaged, she says, the road never materialized.

BWSSB Chairman Tushar Girinath said that suction machines would be used frequently to suck out the muck.

Earlier, another pub called Pecos had put up banners demanding that road construction should be completed fast.
