Bengaluru businessman, bodyguard arrested for shootout in office

Police in Bengaluru arrested a 45-year-old businessman and his bodyguard following a shootout in his office on Saturday.

Bangalore Mirror reported that Ravi Kumar, a stone, and sand merchant opened fire at the ceiling of his office in a bid to intimidate his business partner Girish Babu after they had a dispute over the financial matter. Kumar was using a licensed pistol.  

The accused have been charged with attempt to murder and other several sections under the Arms Act.

There were no casualties, reported the newspaper, with office staff and his business partner running ‘helter-skelter after the shooting’.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 2.30 pm on Saturday when Girish Babu, a resident of Hosur came to Kumar’s office located on Devasandra Main Road – to demand for his share of profit.
