A BBMP corporator who was under the scanner for having shot an advocate on April 20, has got a clean chit after it turned out to be a case of suspected misfiring.

On speaking to the Rajajinagar corporator G Krishna Murthy, the police realised that he had no role in the shooting incident. Instead, the advocate got injured when he accidentally fired the gun that Murthy had bought a year ago.

The Basaweshwaranagar police registered a case under the Arms Act without making anyone the accused.

According to Bangalore Mirror, the incident happened on April 20 when six persons including the corporator and advocate Shiva Kumar attended a birthday function at Kaggalipura on Kanakapura Road.

Murthy decided to drop his friends and they started around 2:30 am. On their way back, Murthy halted the car at Dhobi Ghat junction. As Kumar reached out to get a tissue from the dashboard, he accidentally pulled the trigger of the gun that was kept on it. Fortunately for Kumar, he did not suffer a serious injury as the bullet just grazed his hand.

The advocate was shifted to the closest private hospital, which registered a medico-legal case.
