Image courtesy: The News MinuteThe Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to renew the licenses of hoardings within the BBMP limits, despite its council passing a resolution to ban it, according to a report in Deccan Herald.According to BBMP Administrator TM Vijay Bhaskar, the BBMP has suffered a loss of Rs 25 crore as it did not renew licenses in the year 2014-2015. Nearly 1,792 agencies have submitted applications for renewal of licences and BBMP has decided to collect advertisement fee from them along with over dues where necessary, he said.  BBMP officials state that there are 1,700 legal and 1,100 illegal hoardings in the city. “By Saturday, a list of legal hoardings has to be prepared. By doing so, illegal hoardings and flexes can be identified. Then, the illegal ones can be removed,” Bhaskar was quoted as saying by the paper.The civic body which has submitted a new advertising policy along with a revision of advertisement rates to the state government, is waiting for its approval.  In January this year, the BBMP had passed a resolution to completely ban hoardings, irrespective of the size, to keep the city clean.
