BBMP elections to be held on July 28

 The State Election Commissioner PN Srinivasachari on Thursday announced that elections to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the urban civic body, will be held on July 28. With declaration of the date, the code of conduct has come into immediate effect, said the Commissioner.According to a report in The Hindu, the day of election will be declared a holiday to encourage people to come out and vote.The notification for the election will be issued by BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik on July 8, with Rs five lakh being fixed as election expenditure per candidate. Last date to file nominations is July 15, with the next day being earmarked for scrutiny of the nominations filed. The results will be declared on July 31, according a report in Kannada Prabha.A total of 6,733 polling stations will be set up in 198 wards and citizens can enrol their names upto July 15. None of the above (NOTA) option is not available for the election, added the report.
