Bangalore club suspends member for belittling Kannada

The News Minute | February 7, 2015 | 10:44 am IST A member of the Bangalore Club has been suspended for reportedly belittling Kannada. The elderly woman, a permanent member of the club, allegedly abused a club staff for speaking in Kannada, states a report by The New Indian Express.  The incident took place in January in the Cards Club. She allegedly told the staff, “How dare you speak in Kannada? This is the language spoken in slums", states the report. The management committee received a complaint against her, after which an inquiry was initiated against her and she was suspended for a month from January 20. The woman however denied the allegations against her.
