Two award winning physical education teachers from Bengaluru have been arrested by CID on Wednesday in connection with the Chemistry paper leak.

The Times of India reported that Anil from Poornaprajna School in Sadashivnagar and Satish from Govenrment High School in Palace Guttahalli were arrested for buying and selling the paper for the exam scheduled for March 21. They had bought the paper from one of the prime accused Manjunath the day before the exam.

Surprisingly they were also given the Best Teacher award for the year 2015 by the PU Board. Police had detained five people, including Satish, on March 29 based on WhatsApp messages.

Manjunath, who was also a PE teacher, knew Satish and Anil. Physical education teachers are the ones who sit in vehicles transporting question paper and this gave the investigating team leads to probe further.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo sold the papers for Rs 5 lakh and that Manjunath had allegedly paid them a commission of 20%, said the investigating officials.

Deccan Herald reported that the duo got Rs 50,000 each as commission from Manjunath and collected Rs 6 lakh more from students and parents for supplying the question paper. While they identified students in the city and made them note down the question paper in a room after collecting the money, they also managed to sell the paper in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Ballari and other places

“They sold the papers to at least 200 students across the city and nearby district. The number of recipients may go up as the investigation continues,”CID sources said.

The duo has been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections for cheating, theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master and under sections 115 and 23 of Karntaka Education Act.

They will be in police custody for a week after which they would be produced before the magistrate court on Thursday, police said.

Meanwhile some incriminating material, photocopying machine, question paper bundles and question papers of various examinations conducted by different agencies in the past have been seized by the from the house of Shivakumaraiah, one of the key suspect and a repeated offender, reported Deccan Herald.

However the police are still investigating whether the material seized were used for the March 21 leak.
