The News Minute| January 23, 2015| 5.50 pm ISTGali Janardhan Reddy, a former Karnataka tourism minister and mining magnate, walked out of the Parapana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru on Saturday after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a case on Tuesday.Reddy, who faces eight cases in two states, was welcomes by hoards of his supporters who had gathered outside the jail right from morning.The Bengaluru police had made elaborate arrangements to control crowds and imposed prohibitory orders around half a kilometer radius of Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.A bench of Chief Justice H.L. Dattu, Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Arun Mishra granted bail to Reddy after Additional Solicitor General Maninder Singh - appearing for the CBI - told the court that the investigation in the case had been completed and a chargesheet had been filed.Janardhan Reddy and his two brothers own the Obulapuram mining company. They were ministers in the BJP government of then chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. However, all three were removed after their arrest in an illegal mining case.Granting him bail, the court said he would furnish a bail bond of Rs.10 lakh and a surety of like amount.Tweet
