When Kurukshetra went on the floors some months ago, it was announced that it would be Kannada star Darshan’s 50th film. The actor plays Duryodhana in this historical based on the epic Mahabharata and the story is told from his perspective.

One of the most expensive films to be ever made in the Kannada film industry, Kurukshetra is being bankrolled by Muniratna under his banner KCN Movies. Kurukshetra has a bevy of stars in the cast, including Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, V Ravichandran, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Hariprriya, Meghana Raj and P Ravi Shankar. The shooting for the film is over and it is currently in the post-production mode. Darshan had completed dubbing for the film as well but there is still no clarity about its release date.

According to sources in the know, Kurukshetra may not turn out to be Darshan’s 50th film as announced. The actor is reportedly unhappy over the slow progress of its post-production and is contemplating on having his upcoming film Yajamana hit the silver screens ahead of Kurukshetra.

While Darshan plays the lead role in Yajamana, it has Rashmika Mandanna playing the leading lady along with Tanya Hope as the second heroine. Dhananjay, Thakur Anoop Singh and Devaraj will be seen playing significant roles in this flick.

Bankrolled by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, the former confirmed that the team finalised the title Yajamana after considering a couple of other titles. She also clarified that Darshan’s Yajamana has nothing to do with the Vishnuvardhan starrer Yajamana that came out more a decade and half ago.

V Hari Krishna will not only be composing the tunes for Yajamana but is also credited as its creative head for penning the story along with director Pon Kumar. The talkie portions of Yajamana have been filmed and the team is looking forward to can the song sequences soon.
