The makers of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, starring Chiranjeevi, have been making a slow progress right from the start. The pooja of the film began in August last year and the film went on the floors much later in the year.

Even then, the shooting had been progressing much slower than anticipated. The delay in the project taking off cost its makers a lot with the Oscar winning music director AR Rahman walking out owing to date clashes.

Cinematographer Santosh Sivan also followed suit, making the filmmakers scout for another cameraperson. According to reports doing rounds, the shooting of this film is scheduled to commence on June 4th but there are no updates about it till now. Reports say that the dates allotted by Nayanthara, who has been roped in to play the woman lead in the project, may go unutilised as the Sye Raa team may postpone the shooting schedules.

With no updates about the shooting recommencing, sources say, that Nayanthara who was camping in Hyderabad until recently, moved to Chennai take care of her commitments there.

Sye Raa is one of the biggest projects happening in the Telugu film industry right now. It is a biopic on the unsung hero, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who fought the British rule in the 1840s and was killed during the fight. The biopic is directed by Surendhar Reddy. It has Chiranjeevi playing the lead character with a bevy of stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Vijay Sethupathi, Sudeep, Jagapathi Babu, Nayanthara and Tammannah in pivotal roles. Made on a budget of Rs. 150 crores, the film is being bankrolled by Ram Charan Teja under his banner Konidela Productions. Sye Raa is scheduled for release next year, probably for Sankaranthi.
