WHOA! Simran and Trisha to team up for an action adventure

Written by : TNM Staff

Actor Trisha made her first blink-and-miss appearance in a film starring Simran in the lead. The year was 1999 and the film was called Jodi, where Trisha played Simran’s friend. The two actors went on to rule filmdom, each during different decades, and the two still hold a special place among Tamil audiences.

Simran and Trisha recently reunited in Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta, starring Rajinikanth in the lead, almost 20 years later. Although they never shared screen space in the film, fans can now hope to see more of the duo in their upcoming venture together.

All In Pictures, the makers of Jiiva’s upcoming film Gorilla, tweeted on Wednesday that their next would be an action adventure starring Simran and Trisha in the lead.

This project will be helmed by director Sumanth Radhakrishnan who previously made Sadhuram 2 in 2016.

This film will be Vijayaraghavendra’s All In Pictures’ fourth production venture following Masala Padam, Rum and Gorilla. More details on the project are yet to be made public.

Simran, who was last seen in Petta, has Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram, Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and Vanangamudi alongside Arvind Swamy. After Ainthaampadai in 2009, Simran took a short break before making a brief appearance in Aaha Kalyanam in 2014. Simran called Petta her “true comeback”.

Also last seen in Petta, Trisha has her long-delayed Garjanai and Sathuranga Vettai 2, up for release. Her Paramapadham Vilayattu and 1818 are in different stages of production.

The first-look poster of Gorilla was released by its makers in June last year. The film is a heist comedy starring Jiiva, Shalini Pandey, Radha Ravi, Sathish, Muniskanth, Yogi Babu and Mottai Rajendran. Director Don Sandy who had directed the crime thriller Mahabalipuram earlier is helming this project.
