Special number plates for cars and motorbikes have always been a craze. But Tollywood actor Junior NTR has taken the craze to a whole new level by spending Rs 10.5 lakhs for the registration number ‘9999’ on Saturday. This is the highest ever such bid recorded in Telangana state.

The bid was filed at the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Khairathabad, and the license plate will now adorn his new BMW which is reportedly worth Rs 1.21 crores.  

T Raghunath Joint Transport Commissioner told The News Minute, ‘’On Saturday he filed an application for the fancy number ‘TS09EL9999’ for his newly bought BMW worth Rs 1.21 crore. Along with him there were three other applicants who had also bid for this number. If there is more than one applicant, then they have to bid on the number. The second highest bid quoted Rs 6 lakhs, and as Junior NTR’s bid was Rs 10.50 Lakhs, he got the registration number’’.

According to Raghunath, this is the highest bid ever registered in Telangana state. “Earlier Tollywood actor Nagarjuna had bid between Rs 60,000 and Rs 1 lakh for his car number ‘1016’.” He adds that Junior NTR has around four or five cars, and all his license plate have the same fancy number ‘9999’. “Within 15 days he will complete all the formalities of registration’’.

According to sources, the number ‘9’ is considered by the Nandamuri clan to be their lucky number. This is also why Junior NTR is crazy for the fancy number ‘9999’.
