Watch video: What happened when a Class 8 student had a crack at Raghuram Rajan

Written by : TNM

So, you are the RBI governor of the country and a boy from the eighth standard tries to flummox you at a conference.Raghuram Rajan took it all in his stride with a smile when Rajas, a student of a Dombivali East school in Mumbai stood up and posed this question:“The mere rumour of the US cutting down on the federal stimulus saw the rupee crashing in value,” he told Rajan. “When will we see an Indian policy affecting other countries so intensively?”A bit amused, not the least bemused, Rajan said that he has always questioned US policies and that India, if in such a position should take into account the welfare of other countries.“I suspect that by the time you're my age, we will be one of the two or three great economies in the world,” he told the student. “And you as Central Bank governor will have to decide the kinds of policies that are appropriate for the world, and not just for India at that time.”Here is the video of the incident: Video of a6CYyswCSg0
