The News Minute | March 5, 2015| 10.31 am ISTOutrage on social media has often gone overboard, with trolling becoming a part of our social imagination, as a category of people who make it a point to abuse whoever and whatever they dislike. Some of it is harmless, and some of it is not. Many people have been victimized by this latter category of people.A video uploaded by British newspaper The Guardian in its comment section looks at the people targeted by social media users and the veritable hell their lives became as a result of such targeting. An American woman who posted a comment about travelling to an African country, was misunderstood to be racist and was target because of it. She lost her job, and has said that she would often wake up in the middle of the night and wonder what went wrong. The video discusses the effects of the snowballing outrage and criticism can have on people and prompts social media users to evaluate their own behaviour critically.
