Lalettante Ichakka, a short film that addresses the arguments between fans of superstars, was unveiled by actor Unni Mukundan recently.

Speaking about Lalettante Ichakka, Unni Mukundan has been quoted by the Times of India as saying, “It captures the essence of the passion and love we have for cinema.”

The film, directed by Shibin Muhammed, has an important message for the followers of Mammootty and Mohanlal. It is about a set of hardcore film buffs who are fans of the two superstars of the Malayalam film industry. With nothing to do to while away their time, the two groups of fans argue, each teasing the other.

With such fans who demean one superstar to praise the other, the signficance of the good work done by the "real fans" is lost, the film says.

Watch the film here:

Meanwhile, Unni Mukundan will be seen in the upcoming film Meppadiyan. Vishnu Mohan has written and directed the film and it also features Kalabhavan Shajon, Sreenivasan, Alencier Joy and Lena in pivotal roles. The motion poster of the film, recently released, made it clear that it is based on true events.

While the motion poster of Meppadiyan is out and going viral, Unni Mukundan has a number of other films needing his attention. He has Chocolate Story Retold, Mamankam and Chengazhi Nambiar in different stages of production. Chocolate Story Retold is directed by Binu Peter while Chengazhi Nambiar is directed by Sidhil Subramanian. Of the three films both Maamankam and Chengazhi Nambiar are touted to be period flicks with Unni Mukundan having an important role to play.

His belated selection into the Maamankam cast has been much discussed at a time the Mammootty-starrer film ran into a series of controversies, following the removal of actor Dhruvan, and much later, even its director Sajeev Pillai.

Unni Mukundan was last seen in the Malayalam movie Mikhael. He had an important role in this Nivin Pauly starrer. Nivin Pauly was seen playing a doctor in this neo-noir action thriller and it had Unni Mukundan playing the character named Marci Jr.
