Watch: Singer S Janaki’s swan song is now on YouTube, and it’s the perfect sign off

Written by : TNM Staff

Veteran singer S Janaki is signing off from playback singing, and she’s doing it in style.

It was reported last month that Janaki, who has sung over 48,000 songs and has won four national awards and 32 state film awards, had decided to retire. The 78-year-old singer had chosen a lullaby “Ammapoovinum” from the Malayalam film “10 Kalpanakal” as her final playback performance.

A fortnight later, the video for Janaki’s swan song has been released on YouTube:

Set to music by Midhun Eshwar and featuring lyrics by Roy Puramadam, “Ammapoovinum” is a gentle tribute to the joys of childhood.

“10 Kalpanakal”, directed by Don Max, stars Anoop Menon, Meera Jasmine, Kavitha Nair, Prashanth Narayanan, and Joju George.
