Watch: 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha' trailer is a riot

The official trailer of Meeku Maathrame Cheptha, Vijay Deverakonda’s first film as a producer, was released on Wednesday. The film stars director Tharun Bhascker in the lead and has been directed and scripted by Shammeer Sultan.

Meeku Maathrame Cheptha is a comic caper and the trailer’s narration is a funny take on people’s obsession with phones. “Whether our lives are in our hands or not, all of us have a phone in our hand,” it begins.

Almost throughout the trailer, Tharun Bhascker is seen stressing on an embarrassing video of his that has been leaked over the phone and is about to jeopardise his wedding. He then does everything he can to stop the video from ruining his life, all the while wearing his sherwani. Going by his costume, the film probably takes place over a short period of time just before his wedding.

Tharun Bhascker, who made his debut as director in 2016 with the Telugu hit Pelli Choopulu, took up acting for the first time in 2018 for Mahanati. He played the role of veteran film director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. He was also seen in Sammohanam and Falaknuma Das.

Meeku Maathrame Cheptha also stars Abhinav Gomatam, Naveen George Thomas, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Vani Bhojan, Avantika Mishra and Pavani Gangireddy in important roles. The technical crew of Meeku Maathrame Cheptha includes Mathan Gunadeva for cinematography, Sivakumar for music and Sreejith Sarang for editing.

The plan was to release Meeku Maathrame Cheptha in October but with some biggies taking up the theatres, Vijay Deverakonda has decided to release it on November 1. Trade circles consider it to be a smart move from the actor turned producer.

Vijay Deverakonda has Fighter with director Puri Jagannadh coming up. He also has World Famous Lover directed by Kranthi Madhav in hand.
