The audio launch of the most-awaited Kannada film, Kurukshetra, is set to happen on July 7. Recently, the passes for the audio launch began circulating and Darshan’s fans were thoroughly irked to find his pic missing on the passes.

On getting to know about his fans’ reaction, Darshan put out a video message on social media saying: “You call me a celebrity, but each one of you is a celebrity to me. Kurukshetra, even though it is my landmark film, is a mythological drama that consists of an ensemble cast – including Appaji (late Ambareesh), Arjun Sarja, Ravi Chandran, Srinivas Murthy and Nikhil. Irrespective of who is part of the film, I request all my fans to give equal respect to all of them.”

He went on to add, “Don’t just look for which actor’s posters are released, and whose cut outs have been put up. I request you all to come with your family members and watch the characters – Duryodhana, Arjuna and Karna. This is my challenge to you all. Let there be no fights, watch the film with love.”

When Kurukshetra went on the floors several months ago, it was announced that it would be Darshan’s 50th film. The star plays Duryodhana in this mythological drama based on the epic Mahabharata and the story is told from his perspective. One of the most expensive films to ever be made in the Kannada film industry, Kurukshetra is bankrolled by Muniratna under his banner KCN Movies. The film also has Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, V Ravichandran, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Hariprriya, Meghana Raj and P Ravi Shankar in pivotal roles. Though the shooting of this film was completed long ago, it has been in the post-production mode due to the extensive VFX work involved.

Kurukshetra, which is directed by Naganna, has an impressive technical crew as well. Jayanan Vincent has cranked the camera for this film with Jo Ni Harsha doing the editing. The film is slated for release on August 9.
