The official trailer of Aishwarya Rajesh’s upcoming film Kanaa was released on Sunday by cricketer Ashwin Ravichandran. The film marks the directorial debut of lyricist and singer Arunraja Kamaraj. The two-minute trailer paints a picture of a young woman overcoming challenges to live her dream of becoming a cricket player.

The younger version of Aishwarya Rajesh’s character in the film reveals that she would like to play cricket and win to make her father happy. The trailer also gives us a fair idea of the father-daughter bond in this film. Sivakarthikeyan is producing this film, which will be his first. He also makes an appearance in the trailer.

The actor, who appears in a different look with beard and glasses, is heard inspiring Aishwarya with motivating lines like, “If someone says you can’t, you don’t have to believe them. Believe in yourself”; “In this world, it is the winners who have a voice. Win and you will be heard.”

The film will hit the screens in December. Dhibu Ninan Thomas has been roped in to compose music for this sports flick.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan has also sung a track titled ‘Vayadi Petha Pulla’ in this film, along with his daughter Aaradhana.

Talking about the track to TOI, composer Dhibu said, “It is a father-daughter song that traces Aishwarya’s childhood, back in her hometown. It is more like a village track as she connects to her family with this song. This is, in fact, the first song in the film and a pretty long track. There is a portion in the song that needed a kid’s voice. I couldn’t think of anyone else except for Aaradhana to record this number.”

It was reported earlier that Sivakarthikeyan, Dhibu Ninan Thomas and Arunraja Kamaraj were classmates and the project materialised when Sivakarthikeyan offered to produce Arunraja’s script.
