The Vishal starrer Thupparivalan was released on September 14 this year and it went on to score big at the box office. The film, directed by Mysskin, had Vishal playing the lead role with the star cast also including Prasanna, Vinay, K Bhagyaraj, Andrea Jeremiah, Anu Emmanuel, Shaji Chen, Vijayakumar, Abhishek Shankar, Simran, John Vijay and Master Nishesh. The film is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional detective character, Sherlock Holmes. After tasting success at the box office in Tamil Nadu, Thupparivalan’s Telugu dubbed version, titled Detective was released recently in Andhra and Telangana.
During a press meet held there recently, Vishal reiterated that the sequel to this film is sure to happen. He went on to add that the shooting would begin in mid-2018 and the team is currently busy with the groundwork for it. The star went on to point out that he was so impressed with the script when Mysskin had narrated it to him that he agreed to hop onboard the project almost immediately.
Arrol Corelli had composed music for Thupparivalan with Karthik Venkatraman working as the cameraman and N Arun Kumar editing it. The crime thriller was produced by Vishal under his home banner Vishal Film Factory and distributed by Madras Enterprises.
Vishal’s last release was the Malayalam film Villain which had marked his debut in Mollywood. Directed by B Unnikrishnan, Villain was bankrolled by Rockline Entertainments under the banner Rockline Entertainments Pvt Ltd.
The star has a slew of films in his kitty including Irumbu Thirai, Sandakozhi 2 and Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja in various stages of production.
Mysskin’s last release was Thupparivalan and he is currently busy with the script of its sequel. More details about the sequel will emerge after the scripting is done and Vishal joins the sets next year.
