Vikram starts shooting for ‘Saamy Square’, makers hopeful of 2018 summer release

Written by : TNM

Chiyaan Vikram has started shooting for Saamy sequel, being made after a decade since the release of the highly successful first part. The sequel, which reunites Vikram and director Hari, for strange reasons, has been titled Saamy Square and nobody quite knows the reason behind it. Maybe it’s the makers’ way of creating curiosity till the film comes out. However, it’s going to be challenging to create a recall value with this new title which has been received with mixed feelings. Meanwhile, the makers are hoping to bring out the film next year during summer.

In the first schedule, currently underway in Chennai, the team is shooting some key action scenes. Vikram returns as the foul-mouthed cop Aaru Saamy in the sequel, which also features Trisha and Keerthy Suresh as the leading heroines.

Apparently, the principal shooting began from last week and the makers plan to shoot the film across various locations such as Delhi, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Nainital and Kathmandu among other places. The supporting cast includes Prabhu, Delhi Ganesh and Soori. Harris Jayaraj, who was originally roped in, was later replaced by Devi Sri Prasad as the composer for the film.

Vikram hopes to have one release later this year and it’s most likely going to be Sketch, which is an out-and-out commercial. He plays a spy in Dhruva Natchathiram, which was originally planned with Suriya and later with Jayam Ravi. For Saamy 2, he sports a twirled moustache and he is already seen shooting in smart formals.
