The final schedule of director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram is all set to commence in the second week of January and last for two weeks. The crew is aiming to release the movie during the first half of 2019.

Though the big budget project starring 'Chiyaan' Vikram went on floors in January 2017, the shooting proceeded slowly due to various financial reasons. Sources say that though the initial plan was to shoot a major portion of the film in the US, Gautham Menon eventually decided to film the scenes in Europe. Official teasers of the film, shot in New York, were released in 2017 raising expectation levels among fans. While the first teaser was released by the production house on January 14, 2017, the second teaser was released on Vikram’s birthday, April 17, 2017. Looking suave in both the teasers, Vikram plays John/Yohan/Dhruv in this spy thriller.

Bankrolled collectively by Gautham Menon, Venkat Somasundaram, Reshma Ghatala, P. Madan and Senthil Veeraasamy under the banners Ondraga Entertainment, Escape Artists Motion Pictures and Kondaduvom Entertainment, the movie will also see Simran, R Parthiepan, Aishwarya Rajesh and Ritu Varma in action.

The music for the film is being composed by Harris Jayaraj, Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran and Manoj Paramahamsa together handle the camera. Praveen Anthony is tasked with editing the movie. Lyca Productions has acquired the distribution rights of the movie.

Suriya was the initial choice of Menon to play the lead role in this film but since Suriya opted out, the offer went to Vikram. Though the movie commenced in 2017 with Anu Emmanuel as the leading lady, she opted out shortly after it, citing schedule issues.
