Actor Vikram’s next big release is Saamy Square, the sequel to his highly successful 2003 blockbuster Saamy. The film reunites Vikram and director Hari after a long time, and at the film’s audio launch on Monday, both of them spoke at length about how their plans to collaborate much earlier on this project didn’t materialize as planned.

The entire cast and crew of the film were present at the audio launch which was organized on a lavish scale. Actor Ramesh Kanna, who plays a key role in the film, casually blurted out that Vikram plays dual roles in the film. He went on to reveal that Vikram plays both father and son.

When it was director Hari’s turn to speak, he said that the story is about the clash of two families featuring Vikram and Bobby Simhaa, who plays the negative role. Apparently, Bobby plays the son of Kota Srinivasa Rao’s character from the first part.

After playing negative roles in films such as Neram, Jigarthanda and Karuppan, Bobby Simhaa returns as the antagonist in Saamy Square. The makers recently revealed his looks from the film and it has been learnt that he will be seen in three different avatars in the film. In one of the looks, he will be seen playing the older self of his own character.

The film originally starred Trisha, who played Vikram's pair in the first part, in a crucial role. However, in October last year, she revealed that she is no longer part of the project and that she opted out due to creative differences. In a tweet, she confirmed her exit and wished the team good luck.

Trisha’s exit came as a shocker to the team which had to reschedule dates for the shoot. Aishwarya Rajesh was eventually roped in as her replacement. Speaking at the audio launch, Aishwarya said she can’t repeat the magic of Trisha from the first part adding that she has tried to do justice to her small but strong role. Keerthy Suresh plays the leading lady. The makers revealed that the film is being planned for release this September.
