The team of Vijay Sethupathi’s Junga, which has been shooting for nearly a month across exotic locations in Europe, successfully wrapped up the extensive schedule on Tuesday.
The film’s leading lady Sayyeshaa, via a tweet, confirmed the wrap of the schedule. She also posted a picture of the entire unit. It is believed that after a brief break, the team will shoot in Chennai and then head to Bangkok for another schedule.
The makers hope to complete the project by December and are planning for an early release next year. Vijay Sethupathi, who is bankrolling the project on a budget of Rs. 20 crores, has gone clean shaven for the film. He plays a local don who goes to Paris to woo the girl of his dreams.
The film has reunited Vijay Sethupathi with director Gokul, with whom he had worked in Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara. While sixty percent of the film will be shot in France, the rest of the portion will be shot in Austria, Croatia, Bulgaria and Chennai. It’s believed to be the most expensive film in the career of Vijay Sethupathi. He agreed to produce the film because he was really impressed with the script. Instead of taking remuneration, he has reportedly agreed to produce the film on profit-sharing basis, much to the surprise of the director.
Junga will showcase Vijay in a different dimension. Most of the technical crew from Gokul’s last film is said to have been retained, according to a reliable source. Sam CS of Vikram Vedha fame has been roped in to compose the music. On the career front, Vijay Sethupathi has a project with Mani Ratnam in his kitty. He also has megastar Chiranjeevi’s historic drama Sye Raa Narasimha, in which he will share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Sudeep and Nayanthara.
He also has to complete Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe, in which he is rumoured to be playing a trans woman. This is the first time Vijay and Sayyeshaa have joined hands. In Junga, the Vanamagan actor plays a woman who is born and raised in Paris, and her entire portion is said to have been shot abroad.
Granddaughter of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, Sayyeshaa made her acting debut with Telugu film Akhil, which also marked the debut of Nagarjuna’s second son Akhil. She was also seen in Ajay Devgn starrer Shivaay, which released for last Diwali and tanked at the box-office.
